life drawing

watercolours were easy to block tonal values and form
Being back in life drawing drawing was like trying to do maths after not looking at it for a while... my arm ached and all the proportions were out.
pencil crayons weren't as time efficient

here i think I've managed to get the weight distributed well. The crayon worked better here as i used it to describe form .
The foreshortening on the forearms was challenging but i think here it looks convincing enough.. I liked using the watercolours, but started sketching first in pencil colour.
I began to tire and proportions went loopy - big bum and tiny head. I didn't map it out to begin with, so its the process I need to get into habit again.

We were given different mediums to work with - The Diffuser as become my favourite as its unpredictable and covers a large area, although its noisy in a quiet room and makes you light headed. Just ink creates a dark area, and i went over the top with my muddy water for larger areas.

using the diffuser again, I tried to map out the tonal values. here, her feet look too small and bottom too much like a bench to sit on. I worked on top with a hard pastel.
Playing with colours in Photoshop, I used a green colour screen for the lines and painted in the background.
Another play, different colours. I think it would fit in on a wall somewhere...
Hand studies, as i have to work on accuracy.
